Biography:
I began my career in frontline nursing, gaining extensive experience across medical and surgical wards in London and the Southeast. After earning a BSc in Nursing and Human Science (2:1) from City University and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, I transitioned into Primary Care, progressing from Nurse to Nurse Practitioner in Sussex, driven by a passion for improving patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.

Since 2004, I have combined clinical practice with teaching as a Visiting Lecturer sharing real-world experience across BSc Nursing and Public Health programmes to train the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Delivery of Coaching Programmes.
Over the years, I took a leading role in the Supporting Learners in Practice programmes within the School of Sport and Health Sciences. I was responsible for designing and delivering specialised postgraduate courses that helped students develop skills in mentorship, clinical supervision, and coaching. I remain a passionate advocate for coaching as a transformative tool to enhance practice and support ongoing professional development.

Research & Quality Improvement.

Over time, my passion for improving services and empowering others led me to lead roles in NHS research and quality improvement, where I began to influence change at a broader, systemic level. Between 2002 and 2006, I held dual roles as a Primary Care researcher and facilitator at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, while also contributing to Quality Leadership initiatives within an NHS Trust from 2002 to 2005. These diverse roles enriched my understanding of leadership in healthcare and have shaped my approach to leadership development and organisational transformation.

Consultancy.

From 2018 to 2020, I worked as a Lecturer, Assessor, and Consultant for Brighton & Hove City Council, leading monthly workshops for staff participating in the Level 5 Leadership & Management Programme in Health & Social Care. This role alongside leading Leadership Modules for the open University have allowed me to shape and support the leadership development of NHS & public sector employees, providing them with practical tools and frameworks to improve their leadership capabilities.

Becoming a Specialist in Healthcare Leadership, Service Improvement and Change Management.

This journey has equipped me with a rich blend of clinical expertise, academic insight, and strategic thinking, all of which underpin my work today. After completing my MSc in Health & Management in 2018, I transitioned to my role as a Senior Lecturer in Leadership & Service Improvement in Health & Social Care within the School of Education, Sport, and Health Sciences. In this capacity, I design and deliver programmes that engage students in developing their leadership, service improvement, and change management approaches. I maintain ongoing, up-to-date knowledge of leadership, project management, and service development trends within healthcare and higher education institutions.
